The oil industry can make or break the Paris Climate Agreement. The goal of the symposium is to discuss how shareholders can support oil and gas companies to contribute to the goal of the Paris Climate Agreement to limit global warming to 1.5 to 2°C. We will discuss shareholder engagement and shareholder resolutions.

Dr Emily Grossman will discuss the science behind the climate and the current ecological emergency, explain why it is essential to act now to avoid catastrophe, and envision how the world could look when we take adequate action.
2) Presentation: Andrew Grant, Carbon tracker
Andrew Grant will explain the carbon bubble in the oil and gas sector and why no oil major is Paris-compliant according Carbon Tracker’s Hallmark for Paris-compliance.
3) Panel: Oil majors & climate targets panel
Tjerk Huysinga, EVP Investors Relations of Shell, Mark van Baal (Follow This), and Andrew Grant (CarbonTracker) will discuss Paris-aligned targets for oil and gas companies.
Key question: is Shell’s ambition to halve the carbon intensity of energy products by 2050 enough to reach the goal of the Paris Climate Agreement?
4) Presentation: Mark Van Baal, Follow This
Mark van Baal will discuss the role of individual investors and the CA100+ in compelling oil majors to commit to the Paris Climate Agreement.
5) Presentation: Jan Vandermosten, WWF
Jan VanderMosten, co-author of WWF’s Asset Owner Guide To Oil & Gas Producers, will tell what investors should demand from oil and gas companies to actually stop climate change.
6) Panel: Investors panel
Ben Constable-Maxwell (M&G Investments), Heike Cosse (Aegon Asset Management), Jan Vandermosten (WWF), will discuss how investors can support oil majors to truly commit to the Paris Climate Agreement, by engagement and by supporting climate targets resolutions.
